Workshops, conferences
On February 3, 2005, in Minsk, a seminar was held under the UNDP/GEF Project (Project No. 00011748) "Biomass Energy for Heating and Hot Water Supply in the Republic of Belarus", organized by UNDP, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the Committee on Energy Efficiency of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
The seminar focused on international and Belarusian experience in producing boiler plant equipment and building biomass-fired boiler plants and CHP plants, modern wood waste combustion processes for generating heat and electric energy, and cooperation between the Belarusian and international boiler plant equipment manufacturers.
Mrs Gihan Sultanoglu, UN Resident Coordinator and UN Representative in the Republic of Belarus, welcomed the seminar participants.
Mr. R.R. Shirma, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Energy Efficiency, opened and conducted the seminar.
Mr. E.V. Nadezhdin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, UN ECE Regional Adviser on Energy described the prospects for implementing the project "Biomass Energy" (the above-mentioned project's shortened title) in the Republic of Belarus. His presentation focused on the existing and new financial mechanisms that can be used to finance energy efficiency and biomass fuel projects.
The seminar programme included a series of presentations both by national and foreign manufacturers of biomass-fired (wood-fired) boiler plant equipment.
Ya.F. Ovsyanik, Deputy Director of the AP "Avtoremproject" of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, presented information on the boiler equipment produced in the Republic of Belarus.
Presentations were also made by the national boiler plan equipment manufacturers, including V.A. Kravchenko, General Director of NPP Belkotlomash and V.S. Proskushkin, General Director of COOO "Komkont".
National manufacturers of boiler plant equipment
Estonian manufacturers of modern boiler plant equipment,
